20th Anniversary

A few weeks ago we continued our 20th Anniversary year in style, hosting a glamourous dinner at Lewes Town Hall and raising over £3,000 for Chestnut Tree children’s hospice in the process.

team-pictureEmployees, clients and their families were treated to a drinks reception, three course meal and music from jazz singer, Lily Davies. Founding Directors David Herbert and Kevin Scott were delighted to welcome many local business owners together with clients many of whom have been with the company since its inception in 1996. They spoke fondly of the support they have received from the local business community and are proud to still be providing sound financial planning advice 20 years on. David Herbert raised a glass to the next 20 years although he fully expects some of the younger staff to be running the firm by then.

The evening also gave the team an opportunity to raise vital funds for Chestnut Tree, a charity that they have supported for several years. Marie Baker, whose daughter Aimee is cared for Chestnut Tree, spoke on the night about the difference the hospice makes to her and her family.

Aimee suffers from Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that affects every area of her life and means that she needs a high level of care. Chestnut Tree offers her and her family a wide range of services, including short breaks at the hospice building near Arundel, sessions with the family counsellor, and visits from a community nurse in the family’s home, giving Marie a break from the round-the-clock responsibilities of caring for a child with a life-shortening condition.

david-speechTracey Luker from Chestnut Tree, who attended the event, commented “Herbert Scott have provided a wonderful evening of entertainment and fundraising. The money raised will make a real difference to local families of children with life shortening conditions. It costs over £3.5million every year to provide all of our care services and we receive less than 7% of that from central Government. Families like Marie’s are never charged for their care which is why fundraising events held by companies such as Herbert Scott are so important to us.”
