Celebrating 20 years of Herbert Scott

This year Herbert Scott celebrates being in business for 20 years and for the staff summer outing we decided to take things abroad.

The day started with an early morning flight from Gatwick to the Irish capital where we were met by our friendly mini bus drivers. We then set off the Guinness Store House for a tour and to find out the story behind the famous Irish beer; how it is made, produced and how it has not changed since the beginning. Everyone and the Guinness Sign

Our journey began at the bottom of the world’s largest pint glass and continued up through seven floors filled with interactive experiences that fused Guinness’s long brewing heritage with Ireland’s rich history. At the top, we were rewarded with a pint of perfection in the world-famous rooftop Gravity Bar where we were able to enjoy panoramic views of the city.

Once the tour had finished and we had purchased the obligatory Guinness themed presents for ourselves and family members we made our way to The Hairy Lemon for lunch of traditional Irish fare and more pints of the black stuff!!

Lunch

After lunch we split into team and went for a scavenger hunt around the Temple Bar area of the city. This was designed to make sure that we saw the popular tourist destinations throughout the area, collecting various objects and photographing statues, street signs and bridges including the Ha’Penny Bridge, the statue of Molly Malone and the Irish Stock Exchange. We were also challenged to find the tackiest souvenir possible! Once all of the challenges had been completed it was a race to be the first back to The Temple Bar.

Once all the teams had made it back to The Temple Bar we made our way through the Dublin traffic back to the airport for our return flight. Whilst waiting for flight home we announced the winners of the scavenger hunt which were Kevin Scott, Ben Nolan and myself and we were presented with a commemorative trophy.

The trip to Dublin was a huge success, listening to local music along with seeing popular sights in the city. It was an extremely enjoyable day for the whole team.
