On Thursday 10th December all employees at Herbert Scott participated in Wear a Santa Suit to work for the day again following the success we had from the event last year to help raise funds for local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree.
This year we decided to obtain a permit from the Council to enable us to collect donations down the High Street in Lewes throughout the day. Shoppers were greeted by, not one, but several Santas, and donated to Chestnut Tree collection buckets very generously. Donations from these and on our company employee’s Just Giving pages, totalled an amazing £484 and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed.
“Sitting in a Board Meeting all day dressed as Santa, I thought to myself, we should do this more often!” said David Herbert, a Director at Herbert Scott.
Chestnut Tree is the children’s hospice service for East Sussex. They currently care for 300 children with life-shortening conditions, including 55 in East Sussex, but they know there are more who need their help. Their Hands Up! campaign aims to double the number of children Chestnut Tree are caring for in East Sussex by asking people to put their hands in the air and say ‘Yes I’ll help’.
Tracey Luker, Head of Fundraising for Chestnut Tree commented, “We would like to say thank you to all of the staff at Herbert Scott for raising such a fantastic amount, enough for our community nurses to visit two children for a few hours specialist nursing care, allowing their parents some quality time together. It is only with the support of local businesses like Herbert Scott that we will be able to reach more children who need our care. ”
