Brighton Half Marathon

On Sunday 26th February 2017 I am taking part in the Brighton Half Marathon to raise money for Chestnut Tree House, Herbert Scott’s charity of the year.

Chestnut Tree House is a children’s hospice covering East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire.  They care for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-shortening conditions. It currently costs well over £3.5m each year to provide all the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 7p in every pound is funded by the government, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.

I have never completed a Half Marathon before and so have started my journey as a novice runner, with still many hours of training ahead of me! I begin my training with the knowledge that the pain and suffering I experience on the day (and probably days to follow) will be nothing compared to what the children and families supported by Chestnut Tree are going through.  Having visited the hospice as part of their volunteer scheme I have seen first hand the amazing work they carry out and the support provided to the families.

If you are able to support me in this extremely worthwhile cause, I will most certainly be thinking of your kind donations whilst I am training and on the day in Brighton on Sunday 26th February 2017.
