Charity Walk

During the next two months, I’m doing something to raise money for two very good causes and I would very much appreciate any support you can give.

On 21st May, I’ll be walking the South Downs Trekathon – a marathon distance of 26 miles from Lewes along the South Downs Way. I’ll be walking over rolling hills and high ridges, tackling stiff climbs and descents before finishing on the highest chalk sea cliff in England – the beautiful headland of Beachy Head, near Eastbourne.

I’m raising funds on this challenge for the The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity: Imagine a future beyond cancer. At The Royal Marsden they’re dedicated to making this happen. They’re a world-leading cancer centre, pioneering new treatments that save lives. Support The Royal Marsden and you’re investing in a future beyond cancer for you and for everyone you know.

Having got a few miles in my legs, I’ll then be well set for my next big challenge………

On 9th June a group of us are climbing Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa standing at 4,167 metres in the High Atlas Mountains of Morrocco. It will take us three days to reach the top, across a wild, rugged landscape; enduring hot day-time and cold night-time temperatures – oh and a small matter of altitude sickness – something you may know I have had to experience before. I would have to agree with Albert Einstein who said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

I’m raising money on this challenge for Chestnut Tree House – Herbert Scott’s chosen Charity for 2016/17. Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire and cares for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-shortening conditions.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

If you can sponsor either challenge I would be ever so grateful. Every penny donated will go to the charities concerned. All costs are being covered by me. Thank you for your support.
