Herbert Scott news – Alicia becomes our 5th Financial Planner

I am proud to announce that Alicia Buckingham has joined Kevin, Ben, Sean and me as a  Financial Planner at Herbert Scott, a move underpinning the firm’s commitment to ensure we are always there for our clients, day in, day out, year after year.

Alicia has been part of the Herbert Scott family since January 2020 and, although she qualified to give Financial Advice in 2016, her background until early this year has mainly been in non-client-facing, technical roles and management.  She joined Herbert Scott as our Technical Manager, heading up our team of Financial Planning Assistants (FPAs) who support the Financial Planners with client meetings, reports and recommendations.  Previously, Alicia held similar roles, and really enjoyed managing and getting involved in the more technical cases when more specialist support was needed.

Alicia says “My background is very pension-focused, with 13 years experience in the Financial Services sector, having previously worked at St. James’s Place and Just Group (formerly JRP Group plc).

I gained Chartered Financial Planner status (the Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning with the Chartered Institute of Insurance) in June 2019, but never intended to move into an advice role until Herbert Scott introduced me to a style of advising which is exceptionally relationship-focused and client-led.

Our clients are central to all our processes and decisions, with no individual sales targets to distract from the client experience.  We have a collaborative, company-wide approach, which means all clients experience the same journey, regardless of who their adviser is, and all staff act to support and share specialist knowledge.  Because of this, the transition into advising has felt very natural.

I am extremely excited about my future at Herbert Scott and hope to continue putting my knowledge and experience to good use for the benefit of our clients and the company.”
