Thursday 1st December marked this year’s annual Late Night Shopping event in Lewes, with shops throughout the town staying open until 9 pm to support local, independent businesses.
This event once again offered an opportunity to open our doors to the local community and spread some Christmas joy. We had staff dressed as reindeer, mulled wine and mince pies on offer, and a chance to win a prize in our ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ competition. As an added bonus this year, guests were also able to enjoy some World Cup football in the background!
It was a wonderful evening, with a constant flow of Late Night Shoppers joining us for mulled wine, mince pies, and festive fun. As part of the event this year, we offered people the chance to speak to our financial planners for impartial guidance, in what are certainly interesting times for our economy. I’m pleased to say this went down wonderfully, sparking an evening full of interesting conversations with members of the Lewes community – some of whom never knew we were here! Although serious and professional when we need to be, Herbert Scott knows how to have fun and our door is always open for a friendly chat.
Among the merriment, we also collected generous donations for our chosen charity, Chestnut Tree House, which were greatly appreciated.
Chestnut Tree is the children’s hospice service for East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and Southeast Hampshire. They currently care for around 300 children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions. Thank you to everyone who came to say hello and take part in the festivities. Merry Christmas!
