At Herbert Scott, our priority is helping clients make secure, confident financial decisions. Unfortunately, pension scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated and even the most financially aware individuals can be targeted. To strengthen the protection we offer, we have signed up to the industry pledge to Combat Pension Scams – a national initiative designed to safeguard pension savers.
This pledge reflects our commitment to raising awareness, educating clients and reporting concerns so we can play our part in stopping fraud before it happens.
What We’re Doing to Protect You
As part of the pledge, we will:
- Keep you regularly informed
We will continue to warn clients about the latest pension scam tactics – from unsolicited offers to pressure‑based sales strategies – helping you stay alert to anything unusual. - Encourage guidance before drawdown
If you are considering taking cash from your pension, we will always recommend you to talk to us, or seek impartial guidance from Pension Wise, giving you an extra layer of clarity and reassurance. - Maintain strong internal awareness
Our team is completing specialist scam‑prevention training and staying up to date with best practice for pension transfers. This ensures we can identify red flags quickly and support you effectively. - Use trusted resources
We rely on expert guidance from the FCA’s ScamSmart tools and the Pension Scams Industry Group (PSIG), ensuring our processes reflect the most current standards in client protection. - Report concerns promptly
If we ever suspect scam activity, we will report it to Action Fraud and make sure the relevant stakeholders are informed.
What This Means for You?
Scammers can be highly convincing and may attempt to exploit trust, urgency, or the complexity of pension rules. By taking this pledge, we are reinforcing the steps we already take to protect our clients – and committing to even stronger vigilance.
Whether you’re reviewing your long‑term plans, considering a pension transfer, or simply seeking reassurance about something you’ve been sent, we are here to help. If anything doesn’t feel right, please speak to us before taking action.
Working together, we can keep your pension safe and secure.
