In today’s world, the financial services industry faces a unique and pressing challenge: balancing profitability with sustainability and ethical practices. As climate change, social justice issues, and environmental degradation become more urgent, businesses must adapt to meet the demands of conscientious clients, regulatory bodies, and the planet.
Here at Herbert Scott, we have been thinking about our impact on the environment for a while, providing our clients with advice on ethical investing, as well as thinking about our impression when making purchasing decisions within the business.
We have decided to enlist the help of a local network, Clean Growth UK. Clean Growth UK is a pioneering university-led business network that helps members get innovative ideas to market faster. They access expertise and resources at the University of Brighton to develop clean and green products, services, and business models. They will help us assess our carbon footprint and develop a plan to become Net Zero, within a chosen timescale.
We are very much at the start of our official journey but hope, via our newsletter, to share with you the small (and big) changes we will make along the way.
As well as the business making more sustainable decisions, we will be looking to involve all our employees, educating them about the importance of sustainability and ethical practices and involving them in our initiatives. We want them to share ideas and participate in our green activities. Creating a culture of sustainability will ensure everyone is aligned with our goals.
These changes will not only benefit the planet and society but also position Herbert Scott for long-term success and trustworthiness in the eyes of you, our clients and the broader community.
