Axe Throwing, Archery and Go-Karting

On Thursday 2nd September, all of the Herbert Scott employees ventured to QLeisure near Hurstpierpoint to compete in Axe Throwing, Archery, Shooting and Go-Karting as our belated team summer outing.

Not all of us were confident when it came to the more adventurous sports of axe throwing and firing weapons, but we soon learnt how to do this safely and how to enjoy the experience.  Some of us even seemed to have a natural talent for the activities, something to bear in mind when speaking to our colleagues in future!

Once kitted out with helmets and overalls, we went through a pre-race briefing before taking to the karting track, where we were informed of what the different coloured flags meant when waved by the race marshals. After the safety briefing was completed, we were given 30 minutes to go around the track as many times as possible, with first-place being awarded to whoever had completed the fastest lap.  Congratulations to Ben who managed to beat our reigning champion, Kevin, to first place by a matter of milliseconds!

Once the racing was over, we headed to Morley’s Bistro for a well-deserved lunch.  I think everyone greatly appreciated a more relaxed activity and a hearty meal after the morning’s fun!  Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable day for the whole team.
